Active Compounds in Milk Thistle
Milk thistle contains a group of compounds called silymarin, with silybin being the primary constituent, making up 50–70% of the total. Other key compounds include isosilybin, silychristin, and silydianin. Together, these components work synergistically within the body, contributing to the traditional uses that have made milk thistle highly regarded throughout history.
The Issue with Standard Milk Thistle Products
The body can struggle to absorb silybin and other milk thistle compounds when taken orally. This poor absorption occurs because many of these compounds don't dissolve well in water or digestive fluids, don't easily pass through the intestinal walls, and are largely broken down by the liver before they can be used. As a result, only a small fraction becomes available to your body.

This ensures you receive all the active compounds naturally found in milk thistle. With two capsules daily, you're getting the equivalent of 9,850mg of whole milk thistle herb—a potency that would be impossible to achieve with standard extracts alone.
